Our Diocesan Pastoral Plan is now ready for promulgation. Another timely component to the Promulgation of our Pastoral Plan is the recent announcement of our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI calling for a Year of Faith. The Year of Faith marks the 50th Anniversary of the Second Vatican Council, as well as the 20th Anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Diocese of Cheyenne is also celebrating our 125th anniversary.
To mark the beginning of this Year of Faith, and to celebrate our 125th Anniversary, the Diocese of Cheyenne will celebrate two Masses.
Year of Faith & 125th Anniversary Masses:
October 6, 2012 – 2pm – Holy Rosary Catholic Church – Lander
(Rock Springs & Thermopolis Deaneries)
October 13, 2012 – 2pm – St. Patrick Catholic Church – Casper
(Casper, Sheridan, and Cheyenne Deaneries)
During each of these Masses, we will offer the Sacrament of Confirmation to any adult not yet confirmed. Appropriate Catechesis will be provided by parishes in the weeks prior to the celebration.
We will offer as well the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to each of these Masses.
Plans are also underway to provide an exciting youth event prior to each of the celebrations marking the beginning of the Year of Faith. Details for each of these elements will follow.
