Spring Turkey in Wyoming

Spring Turkey in Wyoming

Spring is such a teacher in the ways of faith.  As Christians, we believe that the cross always leads to new life.  These spring turkeys have survived the harshness of winter.  Yes, even though it is not yet Spring, these turkey spotted today “somewhere near Sheridan, WY” were already yelping and gobbling, which is a sure harbinger of “new life”.  Looks like somebody may be getting in a Spring turkey hunt after all!

These are the kinds of things (for me anyway) that we must keep in mind in the moment of difficulty.  Even though the tough times of life (or the present challenge of keeping our Lenten resolutions) tend to narrow our long-range horizon, we must always keep the Kingdom in view.  As Pope Benedict XVI reminded us once again recently, God is our ultimate destiny.  As the cross was, by the Father’s design, the path of redemption, so for each and every Christian, we must be willing to endure the severities of the faith journey to be fully prepared for the many good things God has in store for us.  We are to be always making an “act of faith” in the Providence of God, and the perfection of God’s plan for each of us.  God knows where He is leading each of us, and the best possible path for each of us to arrive at that destination.

Let us endure bravely the challenges of life, with the sure and certain hope that new life is already ours, and the fullness of this life is just ahead!
