Hopefully you are aware of a nation-wide pro-life effort that has been underway for quite some time known as 40 Days for Life. For the first time this year, there is a 40 Days For Life in Wyoming, and runs from yesterday, September 28 – November 6. You can find out more information about this effort to peacefully and publicly pray at the link provided above. Simply go to the website, click on the tab at the top of the page entitled Locations and then find Wyoming on the map and click on the Casper site for more details. I’m told, though have not been able to confirm that there is also a group of students at the University of Wyoming in Laramie who have formed another sight this year.
As we know, the Church has always taught that all life is sacred from conception to natural death. At the core of this teaching is our belief and faith that God creates every human life. Each one of us is drawn forth from the Divine Life of love, and that each of us are created in the image and likeness of God. This is the root of our human dignity as well as our sanctity. Participating in 40 Days For Life is an opportunity to peacefully pray and fast while at the same time give public witness to our faith and please God, save the lives of unborn children.
The month of October is a month of devotion to the Blessed Mother. Mary said “Yes” to God, and said “Yes” to life. Let us seek her intercession this month for a greater understanding and appreciation for the dignity and sanctity of every human life. Let us also ask her to intercede that more people may experience deeper conversion in recognizing the Origin of all life in God the Creator. Let us ask the Blessed Mother’s intercession that more couples will be open to the gift of life, and that those who are blessed to conceive a child will embrace that child with all the love of their hearts, and bring that child to birth in this world to live the life that God has ordained.
